7pm PDT daily (5am Beirut, GMT+ 3) October 7-11, 2013

This year’s Just Peacemaking Initiative (JPI) Conference entitled “Human Rights Thwart Terrorism” will feature scholars from the US and international communities, representing both Christian and Muslim faith commitments, all wrestling with the U.S. tradition of human rights and how promoting human rights along with religious liberty works to heal the sources of terrorism – something war-making cannot do. Each evening during the week of October 7-11, presentations will address various approaches to the problem, its history, and the just peacemaking practices that promise real healing.

Tuesday Evening (7pm PDT, Tuesday, October 8, 2013) IMES Director Dr. Martin Accad will share his firsthand knowledge of how violations of human rights increase anger, and how respecting human rights can bring a culture of Muslims and Christians living together respectfully, as they mostly do in Lebanon. In addition to acting as IMES Director, Dr. Accad serves as Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS).

All sessions are free and open to the public and the conference can be listened to live on the internet here (Livestream account required)Please follow the links for more information about the Just Peacemaking Initiative or the Just Peacemaking Paradigm.
